ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
Avalon Art is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Statement sets forth our current privacy practices with regard to the information we collect when you or your computer interact with our website. By accessing the Avalon Art Web Site you acknowledge and fully understand Avalon Art's Privacy Statement and freely consent to the information collection and use practices described in this Website Privacy Statement.
Information Collection and Use
Avalon Art is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. Information from our users is collected at several different points on our website.
- Orders
We request information from the user at the checkout, for membership accounts and affiliate accounts. Here a user must provide contact information (like name and shipping address) and financial information (like credit card number, expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes and to fill the orders or requests of the customer, member of affiliate. We will email confirmation of orders and may need to use other contact information if we have other questions regarding orders.
- Log Files
We use IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement on our site, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.
- Mandatory/Optional Information
Mandatory information is the minimum amount of information we need to complete the order or service. Any optional information is not required to complete the order or service, but will provide us with important information to improve our site and better serve our customers.
- Monthly Newsletter Subscription
Users who no longer wish to receive our newsletter may opt-out of receiving these communications by using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the menu on the left side of each page or by going to the newsletter main page.
- Kid's Privacy
Consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998, we will never knowingly request personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13 without prior verifiable parental consent. If we receive actual knowledge that a subscriber is under the age of 13, we will remove from our files all personally identifiable information about that person.
- Updating/Removing Personal Information
If a user's personally identifiable information changes (such as the zip code), or if a user no longer desires our service, we will endeavor to provide a way to correct, update or remove that user's personal data provided to us. This can be done by logging into your account and selecting to change your account information, or by contacting us.
- Security
This website takes every precaution to protect our users' information. When users submit sensitive information via our website, your information is protected both online and off-line. When our order and membership forms ask users to enter sensitive information (such as name, address and credit card number) that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry: SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). While on a secure page, such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Firefox or Internet Explorer becomes locked (as opposed to unlocked, or open, when you are just 'surfing'). You can also double check by looking at the URL line of your browser. When accessing a secure server, the first characters of the site will change from "http" to "https." Some versions of browsers and some firewalls do not permit communication through secure servers. In that case, you will be unable to mistakenly place an order through an unsecured connection. If you cannot access the secure server for any reason, please contact us. Never send sensitive information, like credit card numbers, via a standard email or fax. While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line. All of our users' information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job, are granted access to personally identifiable information. Our employees must use a password to access the program that holds the customer information. Furthermore, our employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices. Every quarter, as well as any time new policies are added, our employees are reminded about the importance we place on privacy, and what they can do to ensure our customers' information is protected. Finally, the servers that we store personally identifiable information on are kept in a secure environment.
- Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's hard drive containing information about the user. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site. Once the user closes their browser, the cookie simply terminates. For instance, by setting a cookie on our site, the user is able to accumulate items in the shopping cart. If a user rejects the cookie, they may still visit our site. The only drawback to this is that the user will be limited in some areas of our site, for example, may not be able to access our shopping cart system.
- Links
This web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of these other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every web site that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this web site.
- Notification of Changes
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will notify the user by posting messages in our monthly newsletter so our users are always aware of what information we collect, and how we use it. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify users by way of an email. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.
